It would be foolish to underestimate the power of the sun, and the resource it represents for our planet, and for the human race in particular. After all, even the ancients recognized the power of the sun. All life on earth depends on that shining orb in the sky – indeed, the sun was the most powerful god in many pagan cultures.

Not only is the sun the energy source for earth’s entire biosphere, but it also influences climate, the changing of the seasons, ocean currents, and a host of other factors on the planet.

Now to the point – an energy source that has so many subtle effects upon our planet, and which is indeed the source of the life energies within our own bodies has been seriously underestimated and underused up to now by the human race. The sun represents a vast source of limitless energy, and the sooner we harness that enormous potential the better it will be both for the planet and for our species.

Most of us have already come to realize the importance and value solar power might have in the running of our homes, and one of the simplest and most effective techniques of harnessing solar power are solar heat panels.

The principles by which they work are rather simple: the solar heat panels gather the energy of the sun and harness its heat to heat your home or to heat water for your house, and they can help reduce your electricity bills significantly, especially in colder seasons. Solar power is free, and the initial cost of the solar heat panels is just about all you’ll have to spend here. Under such circumstances, the purpose of solar heat panels is not only to generate heat, but also to store it. A special antifreeze, added to the liquid in the panels, prevents the liquid from freezing during the coldest season and increases the time for which heat is stored within the system.

And of course science yields continuous improvements in the technologies behind solar heat panels, which means that it’s quite likely that they will more or less replace conventional methods of heating in a few years time.
